INTRODUCTION A MANET is defined as a collection of low power, wireless, mobile nodes forming a temporary network without the aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration (1-3). In MANETs, a node usually consumes its power in wireless communication (in other words, message passing), message processing and other operation missions. It has been realized that the power consumed in message passing is orders of magnitude higher than what is consumed in other tasks; therefore, minimizing it is a vital requirement to extend the lifetime of the battery-powered nodes. Nodes are communicating with each other for two main objectives; these are: route establishment and data forwarding using certain routing protocols (3-5).
